9 Days in the U.A.E.

Sounds kinda like Seven Years In Tibet doesn’t it? Well, it was an experience. I’m no Barney Stinson, but even I’d say it was legen…wait for it…DARY! It’s always fun for me to got to a place which is so very different from the world I’m used to. The culture, the language, the different way of life, all these are things that fascinate me, and I got a good chance to explore them all on this trip.

I don’t want this to turn into one long essay with a blow-by-blow account of what I did, but here are some things that I learnt…

1.Although a falcon is just a bird, and not a very large one, it can be very heavy.
2.Smooth roads+good cars+long drives=drivers falling asleep at the wheel
3.If you want Indian food outside of India, your second best bet is a Pakistani restaurant.
4.All the problems between India and Pakistan are among it’s governments, not it’s people.
5.Having sand in your shoes for a long time can cause your socks to tear.
6.Camels are really chilled out looking animals with philosophical faces.
7.It is possible to have bright sunshine and a cold breeze at the same time.
8.All the money in the world cannot buy you good sense or good taste.
9.The Hummer is a massive car, I mean really really massive.

There are lots of other things I found out too, but these are the ones that come to mind right now. I posted lots and lots of pics on Facebook, check ‘em out!

But before I end, I’d like to thank my friends, who opened their homes and hearts to me, put up with every silly question I asked, took time out of their busy schedules to show me around, drove me from one end of the country to another and even slept on the sofa so I could sleep on the bed! I got by with a little help from my friends, and it was such great fun!

1. And how did you learn that about the Falcon? Did actually get to hold it by the talons? Did it willingly sit on your arm?
2. So true about the cars! Which is why you have to keep kicking yourself to stay alert!
3. As much as we love to hate our neighbors at cricket matches, we can't avoid being brethren when it comes to food.
4. Governments are the problems everywhere. Period.
5. Hmm, never had sand in my shoes for enough long enough. Must go back to Goa.
6. Oh camels so like wise beings. They sometimes remind me of master Yoda. Sometimes, it seems like they're bored out of their skulls and are just about to roll their eyes at us.
7. I've experienced that! It's superb in a way. On a couple of beautiful California beaches.
8. Nor can it buy you enough time to be with your dogs :(
9. It's a military tank disguised as a car! I've seen one recently in Pune and all other cars on the road looked puny in comparison. The one I saw in California was Red and droolicious. But I hate the fact that it's a gas guzzler.

Also, I could never sleep a wink if someone offered me a bed while they slept on the sofa. Except my husband, that is. :P

Thank you, your post was too nice to let go without a comment ;)
But what about my answers. Where and how did you meet a falcon? I saw some kites flying effortlessly in circles out of my office window and was so jealous!

Yalla habibi Deeb!
Another noteworthy fact that Arabic has no syllable 'p' and all 'P's get replaced by a 'B'.
So don't be offended if somebody asks you 'why are you Barking!'
